Irish phone calls charges comparison |
|
An independent review of telecom phone charges across 13 operators in the irish telecoms market was carried out by a leading consumer organisation. Their report was published in Nov 2003. Below we outline some of the key findings of their report. SURVEY METHOD : The survey took a real family's Eircom call bill for a two month period. The two monthly Eircom call bill total was €126.57 and it consisted of mainly local, national, and calls to irish mobiles, with a few calls to the UK and the USA. The independent survey then asked 13 telecoms operators who provide CPS services to give details of their call charges and they drew up a direct comparison of their phone rates. The telecom operators included in the survey were as follows : SURVEY RESULTS :
22% CHEAPER than Eircom CLICK HERE for an extract of the Survey Results. COMMENTARY : It is particularly interesting to note that two operators actually came in more expensive than Eircom (!), so consumers do need to evaluate their options carefully. Tips on selecting your new telephone calls operator : It is worth noting that in an effort to gain market share quickly, new operators may sometimes offer very attractive call rates to entice customers. Often the call charges offered are unsustainable for any significant period, and the charges inevitably have to be raised. iii) Savings Guarantee ?- The plethora of different call packages and rates available in the market, can be overwhelming. It is often hard to discover whether you really will save or not. Consumers should consider selecting operators who offer guaranteed savings in the long term. Also, ask your proposed operator whether their bill shows you each month how much you have actually saved.iv) Contract Terms - Another consideration is the contractual terms, sometimes the contracts offered may be restrictive and limit the customers ability to terminate the contract if they are not happy with the savings. Given the competition for your business, there should be little need to sign any long term contracts. v) Customer References - Checkout your proposed operators customer references. Usually they are on their website, if not ask why ? vi) Customer Support - Be comfortable with the Customer Support offered by your proposed operator. Do they have a local access number ? They should ! It might be worth calling the customer support before you signup to see how helpful they are with a general query before you sign up. [More ...] Overall, it makes best sense to select an operator who guarantees you savings, who has a simple pricing structure (i.e. with no convoluted discounts, minimum usage requirements etc), where you have no restrictive contract to sign, and where you have a choice of payment methods. Following extensive evaluation of the telecommunications market we are pleased to recommend Cinergi Telecom to all of our customers.
