Vodafone Ireland Cuts Cost of Picture Messaging from 49c to 25c [Vodafone Press Release] - 2nd June 2004 Vodafone Ireland Cuts Cost of Picture Messaging from 49c to 25c From this month on (1st June 2004), all Vodafone Ireland customers with MMS enabled handsets can send Picture messages for only 25c. This represents a significant saving of almost 50% on the original price of 49c per message for the 230,000 Vodafone live! customers in Ireland. Picture messaging was launched in November 2002 with the introduction of Vodafone live! to the Irish market. Vodafone live! customers now represent 12% of the overall base of 1.8 million. The new price of 25c applies to all Picture messages sent both on and off-net and also while roaming. Picture messages can be sent to other MMS enabled handsets, e-mail addresses and to the Vodafone Picture Album, where they can be stored. Vodafone Ireland customers can also send and receive Picture messages via the Vodafone picture album. “We saw a huge uplift in the usage of this service throughout the free period in December 2003 and January of this year, demonstrating a strong appetite for Picture messaging in Ireland,” said Bernadette Mulcahy, Product Manager, MMS, Vodafone Ireland, “This move reflects our ongoing programme of pricing enhancements and we remain focused on delivering a superior service while finding ways to reduce costs and add value.”
